I'm starting a federal clerkship in August and my firm is currently forcing me to do mindless, non-substantitive data entry for their mass torts group. I am a third-year litigation associate. I am losing my mind and want to quit as soon as possible. How early can I quit without my judge/future employers raising eyebrows?

Get some audible credits and stick it out until June or July at the earliest. Easy money is better than no money.

Can you just phone it in with short (e.g., 10-4) days? Seems like easy money man.

If you have no intention to return, do the bare minimum and work right up until the beginning of your clerkship. The year I worked at a firm before clerking (not caring if I got a return offer) was the least stressful job I ever had.

Exactly this. If you don't want to go back to the firm, just take a couple vacations between now and August. Do the absolute minimum and get paid a big law salary

You can quit any time.

I went traveling for three months between my big law firm and clerkship, no one batted an eye, its a normal thing to do.
