Stay or Leave?

I want youuu not to go, but you should. Just a little chill Dave Mathews to start things off player.
3d year lit associate at a v100. My hours have been low since I started, and the group keeps shrinking. That has caused things to pick up a bit, but there are still partners in the group that barely have anything going on, and we are not usually slammed. No big cases going on really. Even the senior associates barely made hours last year or weren’t even close. I was not close either.
I’m working with a recruiter now because I feel like maybe I should lateral before reviews, as I feel like it is 50/50 that I will get canned. With that said, there are only three other associates in my group, so maybe they need me-ish. And I don’t want to leave with the impression on others that I was just slow for three years and then bounced with the firm never really recouping on its investment in me. I feel some sense of owing something to the firm. I like everyone I work with for the most part but feel like it may be harder to find a new job after getting fired then if I search for one while still in good standing. Thoughts?
