Deal Tables - 3Q

Just saw Bloomberg law's deal tables for Q3. Seems to leave off a bunch of the regular suspects (Davis Polk, S&C, Cravath). Is that a reflection of a weird methodology or are these firms less busy right now in M&A? If the later is this indicative of anything market trend wise

Pretty sure I saw that M&A activity is down 20-25% YTD and IPO activity is down 90% YTD. There has definitely been a corporate slowdown to some degree.

Think sometimes firms miss the submission deadline. Believe it happened to STB at some point last year when they would’ve been #1

Yeah no doubt, but moreso asking if it is a slowdown that is disproportionately affecting the firms that make their money doing public/strategics M&A as opposed to those who do a lot of PE work

Can anyone post an open access link or formulate the table? Thanks

Refinitiv’s league table has Sullivan at #1 and DPW at #9. Cravath is at #11.

This is definitely true. PE work is down a bit, but public M&A is virtually non-existent right now. Capital markets has similarly vanished. That will definitely affect some firms more than others. Unclear if any particular ranking is a reflection of that, however.

I think this is accurate. Just read an article that STB is at the top

yeah, i think that is the bloomberg article being discussed. I'm just surprised S&C, Davis Polk and Cravath could tank that hard in work so as to cede their spots on the QTD tables to a bunch of fairly random firms
