Penn is great. Cheaper cost of living and punches above its weight in elite NYC firm placement (more or less V5)
Yes, and as an added treat, the vagrants, addicts, and thugs are offered free of charge!
Nice, three racist dogwhistles in one sentence. But surely there are some "good ones" right?
Fascinating and so typical—The one making racism accusations is the same one who read the words “vagrants, addicts, and thugs” and immediately pictured nonwhites in their own head. Don’t project your insecurities about your own prejudices onto others.
The idea that "vagrants, addicts, and thugs" wasn't racially-charged is ludicrous. Considering how TLS has had a racism problem for a long time, I stand by what I said
Again, if, in your own head, people of color are the cognitive referent for the words vagrants, addicts, and thugs, then you should address your own prejudices instead of haranguing others.
When people refer to "vagrants, addicts, and thugs," odds are good they're referring to people of color. There's no need to play dumb. You're anonymous, you can say what you feel.
Just leaving this here for you

Not the other poster, but I can't resist getting in on a good old-school TLS thread derailment. Tell me—what's the PC term which one is allowed to use to refer to "vagrants, addicts, and thugs"?

This thread was just discussing useless university administrators... Perhaps we should ask our army of DEI bureaucrats for input?

I think these are too low (I hope I'm wrong - I'd get Coif in this scenario, and we all know I'm not going to get Coif). Based on previous years, I expect Coif to be in the neighborhood of 3.89 - 3.9. I don't see it dipping below that.

Don’t forget that last year was very inflated because that class missed a 1L curve year. I think Magna is typically around a 3.8. It would be great if we can actually get a lot of posts on here to get an idea of Magna and Coif.

I'm sitting at 3.79. Happy to serve as the litmus test.

Telling myself this as well. Inflation not only due to missed 1L curve semester, but also OCI delay which I imagine skewed fall 2L performance higher across the board.

FWIW I’m at ~3.95 depending on the formula our overlords decide to use. Would like to think I’m in the running for summa but my gut says it’s highly unlikely. However, I’d be shocked if I missed coif (and thus Magna).

We hear tomorrow, correct? The full list of honors/awards, or just where we stand individually? I’m still waiting on my last grade…god forbid the frumpy registrar ladies work with a sense of urgency.

That's correct - the whole list of honors, awards, and prizes is published tomorrow afternoon after the faculty meeting.

For what it's worth, I too am waiting on my final grade, and I know others are, too. We're not alone. If I don't hear by COB I'm emailing to find out what the hell is happening tomorrow.

I'm at 3.87 (maybe .88, depending on this last grade). We'll see how this goes...

Not trying to challenge you at all, but how do you know this? Can't find any info on timing/process and registrar won't pick up the phone.

I discussed the process with the Registrar herself a few weeks ago. Details are upthread.

Before people post gpa/honors, perhaps we should make sure everyone is calculating gpa in the same way or disclosing how they calculated it (ie, A- being 3.67 or 3.7 and A+ as 4.0 or more).

I’ve been using:

A+ - 4.3
A - 4.0
A- - 3.7
B+ - 3.3
B - 3.0

I've been using the LSAC method, which is 4.33, 4.00, 3.67, 3.33... That makes more sense.

The broader university uses +/- .3 which, coupled with above consensus, makes more sense.

Separately, if by some miracle anyone can get through to the registrar and confirm we should anxiously await this email today, that would be great. I’ve tried calling all morning and can’t get through.
