Following, also for litigation. I am especially interested in the quality of life / facetime requirements.

For regulatory? Cov, for lit?, WH.
Another possible consideration is Cov is a massive firm in DC, over 700, while WH is around 300. Cov has a good culture but it's very easy to get lost and just feel like a cog in a wheel. I've only heard great things about WH DC culture and you get more hands on work earlier due to the smaller size

Wilmer is stronger for lit, especially appellate, by a fairly strong margin. Both have excellent regulatory practices, although obviously Covington’s practice is deeper, especially across industries (Wilmer concentrates a lot in tech, financial services, and healthcare). I think the general consensus is that Wilmer has a better culture, and certainly you won’t get lost in the rough as much as Covington which feels a lot more like a NY office given the associate class size. Recently, Wilmer has also really outperformed in govt placements (on the D side) if that’s something that interests you. I think generally the consensus is also that Wilmer is significantly more competitive in DC if that matters to you. You obviously can’t go wrong and the firms are similar in a lot of respects, but I think Wilmer is probably a stronger choice here.
