I'm starting the lateral process and have been applying to different biglaw firms and wanted to know how long after applying is it typical to get an email or call regarding a screener interview?

Is it days or weeks or just depends?

One month or so. Over rather than under.

At least for me (debt associate) last year, it took about 48 hours through a headhunter.

If applying through the system, would expect it to take a little longer. Surprised by a month.

Yes, my bad: I was talking about litigation, direct apply.

If you're a corporate midlevel working with headhunters, they will be banging down your door ....

Lateralled a bit before COVID. Submitted with recruiter, radio silence for more than 3 months. Then got a call out of blue for a callback (no screener) and had offer 3 days later.

During COVID lateralled again and went from submission to offer in hand in about 2 weeks. Both corporate roles.
