I mean, are there really more meaningful distinctions between firms for a junior associate? Differences in Seamless amounts, availability of a gym, free breakfast/lunch, etc., can be real savings for a junior associate, thousands a year potentially, depending on how you look at them.jotarokujo wrote: ↑Wed Jul 27, 2022 5:00 pmlmao it always makes me laugh when people compare firms based on seamless amounts, gym, and other perks when there are such larger and more significant distinctions
not to knock OP, i think comparing is fun. i just hope they aren't employed to make actual decisions between firms
I mean, sure, assuming you’ve already narrowed firms down by things like location, practice group/strengths in your practice area, and overall work culture, which seem way more significant than Seamless budgets and gym memberships.Anonymous User wrote: ↑Wed Jul 27, 2022 5:24 pmI mean, are there really more meaningful distinctions between firms for a junior associate? But lol, massages?
Trying to narrow based on work culture for a junior is essentially impossible and the idea that firms have "a culture" just isn't all that true anymore given the mobility of share partners these days.Anonymous User wrote: ↑Wed Jul 27, 2022 5:36 pmI mean, sure, assuming you’ve already narrowed firms down by things like location, practice group/strengths in your practice area, and overall work culture, which seem way more significant than Seamless budgets and gym memberships.Anonymous User wrote: ↑Wed Jul 27, 2022 5:24 pmI mean, are there really more meaningful distinctions between firms for a junior associate? By "work culture" I wasn't talking about "this firm is fratty, this firm is nerdy," but thinking more along the lines of "are the people in your practice group assholes," which is admittedly hard to figure out, but more important than a gym membership. Also things like free market v. central assignment system, practice group rotations, etc.Anonymous User wrote: ↑Wed Jul 27, 2022 5:53 pmTrying to narrow based on work culture for a junior is essentially impossible and the idea that firms have "a culture" just isn't all that true anymore given the mobility of share partners these days.Anonymous User wrote: ↑Wed Jul 27, 2022 5:36 pmI mean, sure, assuming you’ve already narrowed firms down by things like location, practice group/strengths in your practice area, and overall work culture, which seem way more significant than Seamless budgets and gym memberships.Anonymous User wrote: ↑Wed Jul 27, 2022 5:24 pmI mean, are there really more meaningful distinctions between firms for a junior associate? Geography and practice group issues, yes of course, but that basically goes unsaid...
