Latham's a great firm in DC, but unless you're 100% set on appellate and they're guaranteeing that practice group for you (spoiler alert: they don't) - this is Covington by a mile and a half.

This seems close enough that you should choose based on where you'd fit best/work environment but other posters may have more insight. Congrats on two great options!

Latham and Covington are very comparable for lit. Latham is Band 1 in general commercial and Band 2 in white collar, Covington is the opposite. By a “mile and a half” is not even close to right.

Also, Latham does hire summers specifically for appellate, obviously not many though, and only people with realistic chances at SCOTUS.

OP should just go with the office they liked better.
