Who does cooler/more interesting cases? Is DPW more tethered to the banks and financial institutions on the lit side too because of their strong corporate group and Paul Weiss has more diverse clients? Also it seems like PW has more ex government counsels and partners yet I heard that DPW sends more people to government. What’s truth and what’s just a rumor?

They're the same firm. Pick based on gut check, fit, work assignment systems, etc. Honestly, free food at PW (at least for a while) is good enough reason to pick them over DPW.

They're the same firm. Pick based on gut check, fit, work assignment systems, etc. Honestly, free food at PW (at least for a while) is good enough reason to pick them over DPW.

They're really not, for litigation. PW has an excellent commercial litigation practice.

DPW's is nominally Band 2, but that's Chambers being generous, considering their only ranked commercial litigation practitioner is "Band 6" and if you look at his DPW page he's clearly a securities litigator and DPW needed to submit something.

If you litigate at DPW, you will do securities, investigations, and some DE work.

Worked at both shops. Go to PW.

It seems that DPW has slightly better exit options including to govt … would you say otherwise? Is DPW the “nicer” firm culture wise? Thanks!!

Litigation wields more power and influence at PW. The firm just puts more emphasis on it. They hire more associates and partners and make more efforts to build that practice. You're splitting hairs re culture/exit options between these two firms. The PW culture is plenty nice. You're also going to be a litigator, you need to learn to give and take jabs. Don't pick the "nicest" firm just for the sake of it.

Thanks! Would you say there's a material difference between the (1) nature of work juniors get at both firms in terms of substantive vs non substantive and (2) the types of, and interesting-ness, of the work juniors get at both firms or are those metrics about the same too ?
