Latham NY/LA Grade Sensitivity

I’m getting mixed signals on Latham’s grade sensitivity (outside dc which I know tends to be higher gpa floor).
Anyone have anecdotes on offer grade range from mid to lower T14 in the NY or LA office?

LA is definitely grade-sensitive. NYC much less so.

LW (and GDC) are are the most grade selective in LA, excluding boutiques and munger etc.

At my mid to low T14 I've been told explicitly by my career office that Latham NY will take a person they like less than another, simply because the former person has a higher GPA, so definitely still at least some grade selectivity there.

Where's the "Latham NY is sooo selective, and more selective than KE NY" troll

Is this for a lateral offer or 2L summer offer?
Probably more helpful if you gave us a rough GPA range you fall in and the exact school you're at.

actually think they are, I had an offer from KE NY/CHI and didn’t even get a CB at Latham despite a great interview. maybe it was that trash assessment they do

Former LW associate. Generally, there is a grade cutoff that changes depending on the school, but it is generally around Top 1/3 for most T14s. If you're above that cutoff, it's not grade selective (ie they don't care about being Top 10% vs. Top 20%, at that point it's just about fit). If you're below that grade cutoff, it is very difficult to get in (you have to have extremely compelling reasons).

Very grade selective, although I do know someone with bad grades (read: below median) who hired on there. They had an unusual background, though, and probably some connections.

Assuming this is for 2L OCI. Latham is not as selective for lateral hiring.

where in the class should I try to be if I'm at a t14?

I know multiple people with a pre-OCI Latham LA offer at my lower T13. All are top 10%.
Anecdotally, I met a few T6 students with LA callbacks. Also top 10-15%.

Same anon. This is going to depend on the T14 - your career services should have good data, better than what anyone here can tell you. But above median at the very least.

Wait is grade selectively a thing for laterals? Was everyone who said "all that matters is your first job" just lying to me?

How does PH compare to LW and GDC in terms of selectivity in LA?

PH is not in the same league as LW and GDC.

Probably top 10% or so if you’re a litigator, and the higher the better, like other top DC offices, though Latham DC also has a large transactional presence unlike most DC firms

Would it still roughly be top 10% at t14 for transactional?

Word on the street (and by that I mean what I've read on these boards for years) is that GDC still cares to some degree. But I think the vast majority of firms don't.

Same anon that used to work at LW. Yeah - they look at grades even for laterals. Whether it's as important as it was during OCI - I don't know. I doubt they're looking at grades for senior associates and above, but I know of at least 1 person lateralling as a 3rd year that was dinged because of grades.

Not sure that this is right. At my T14 (if you know it based on the following, can you not name it please lol), Latham NY takes a 3.44 25% percentile where 3.44 is almost definitely not top 1/3. Most lateral profiles from my school aren't even cum laude
Separately, Latham DC's 25%th percentile is a 3.54 where that's too low for cum laude most years. Latham LA seems harder to get into than Latham DC lol
