Thought I'd create a place to talk about UVA-specific OGI things now that the bid deadline has passed.

3.6mid, LR. Just over half bids filled with pre-selects and around 5-10 alternates. Most of my pre-selects are from fairly grade selective DC & NY firms (e.g., STB, S&C NY). Seems weird to have so few pre-selects.

The subreddit is more active, you might have more luck there.

Somewhere around a 3.4. 17 preselects, 7 alternates. No standout traits like LR, excellent prior work experience, diversity, etc.

~3.3, 1 yr w/e, alternate journal
Received 7 preselects & 6 alternates, along with an invitation to a callback from my OGI documents that I received last week (making the only non-OGI interview invitation I've received

). In my home market, got one or the other for pretty much all firms. Only got a few from DC & NY, though I'm decently happy with which ones I got.
Overall, been kinda freaking out today (was hoping for double digit preselects at least), but reading this and prior threads are calming me down a bit. Still shocked at how many <3.4s I whiffed on entirely.

Definitely still early in the process!

If there are any UVA people lurking who have gone through OGI, what was your success rate in getting CBs/offers from pre-select vs lottery.

I was near the bottom of the class and bid very conservatively. Out of 13 preselects/alternates had 5 callbacks and out of 12 lottery/special request screeners had 3 callbacks. Once you're there the preselect has no bearing on whether you'll get an offer. Just follow KDon's advice and you'll be fine. Good luck!

+1 to this
Personally I had the fortune of getting offers I wanted before OGI so I don't have direct experience but I remember a ton of my friends getting offers from lottery/alternate interviews.
Once you're in the room the last thing the interviewer will care about is whether or not you were a preselect/lottery/alternate (unless it's like CravaTTTh, a stiff at Gibson, or an actual elite firm like Wachtel - but can you even lottery into them?). I'd wager a butt load of callbacks get issued without the screener even really looking at the grades tbh.
All this to say don't assume you're a lock just because of a preselect to the same extent you shouldn't assume you're doomed if it's a lottery. At this point it's all just an interview.

Anyone else not hear anything from over half of their screeners? Are these just delayed dings?
I've only gotten responses (CBs/dings) from 10/21 firms. I know K-Don says to chill, but he also said that firms have been moving fast, so I don't know what to think.
[Also, apologies. The internet felt like a safe way to vent anxiety without needlessly stressing out my friends going through the same thing.]

Imo, several things here are correct at the same time.
1) Your venting is valid. OGI is objectively stressful.
2) K-Don is right about chilling. Sometimes firms are obscenely slow. Shit happens.
3) You've got callbacks! That's awesome!
