DPW has a partner call with the offer, and follows up via email within a few bus days.

Received what could only be described as a hold tight email from Cov DC today after having a screener with them in June.

Junior associate getting roped into doing some screeners. Don't want to make a new thread, sorry if off topic.

Any associates+ have advice? And students what are things you hate when ppl do so I can avoid?

I'm just an interviewee, but here are a few thoughts: please don't only ask behavioral questions (or if you do, leave room for questions at the end), and if you ask behavioral questions, don't make them painfully specific. Be willing to to chat about your current cases. Have something prepared that is real about what makes your firm interesting/worth working for that isn't just "it's very collegial." Or if you're going to say it's collegial, at least have a story to go along with it. And if possible, look at the resume at least 5 min beforehand cause I can definitely tell when interviewers are frantically reading my resume looking for something they can ask me about.

No insight on McDermott’s hiring process but I lived like literally next door to it (capital plaza apartments) and take my word: the corner bakery next to it sucks and is super overpriced. If you accept an offer there I highly recommend getting your morning coffee and croissant at Blue Bottle in Union Station across the street instead

Thanks for the feedback! Definitely agree on behavioral questions, they are pointless. A lot depends on my schedule and if recruiting ever sends over the resumes.

Does anyone know if for OCI, a firm will notify everyone at a school about CBs at around the same time? If there are multiple separate interviewers, would it vary according to who your interviewer is?

Try to ask me questions for more than five minutes. When the interview turns into me (the applicant) asking questions after five minutes, I feel like I didn't get a chance to convey my personality and experience to you.

OK what should I ask?

Also I will definitely not be reading any resumes in advance because I will only get them 20 minutes before I have to do 10 screeners back to back. Just thought I'd share that so you guys know that we're not lazy, it's just how it works. Act like we haven't read any of the material.

I really like questions that have nothing to do with law school. Something I’m the most proud of, favorite movie and why, how would my best friend describe me. It feels more natural.

I think the best law school related question I’ve gotten so far has been — biggest misconception I had about law school and why. It forces you to think also sparked a great conversation. I don’t mind favorite class, but I think it’s over done.

Personally I HATE “So, tell me about yourself.”

If you want to do what 90% of other interviewers do, ask about their summer job (how is your exp at X? what are you learning? what is your biggest takeaway), ask about any other WE (same), ask why our firm (bad q unless your firm is somehow special), and maybe why law/why lit/why corporate. Leave at least 5m for questions.

If you want to be a good interviewer and provide good data for your firm, try to have a conversation with them. If you’re an alumni, ‘how do you feel about city X?’ Is a good first question to get the ball rolling or ‘how do you like X school?’

Seriously? What are you waiting for?

Now there's a charge.
