When do biglaw firms offer 2L summer jobs to current 1L SAs?

Currently a 1L SA at a V50, when do we hear back about offers back for next summer, if at all? Do we interview again? OCI is coming up and I’m not sure how to go about this.

Usually at the end of the summer and I don't think I know anyone that's ever had to interview again

Not to hijack this thread, but if you get an offer as a 1L SA, can you also work at the same firm as a 2L SA?

This was the case for me. We got ours at the same time all the 2Ls got full-time offers, with no extra steps.

My firm gives 1L SAs return offers on the last day of the summer program. We don't make anyone interview again and another interview wouldn't be that useful - we've had a chance to interact with you all summer and that interaction/your work will speak for itself.

You won’t have to interview again, but the exact date of the offer differs by firm. Most firms do last day offers, but not all of them. I summered at my firm during my 1L summer and I had to wait a week from the last day of work to get the offer. Same thing happened after 2L.

Anecdotally, I got my offer about eight weeks after the end of my SA. But they were very clear at the beginning of the summer that there was a specific meeting these decisions were made at, and that I shouldn't expect to hear earlier than that. So regardless, the firm should be up front with you about expectations.
