MoFo's ECVC (SF)
How's MoFo's ECVC practice (SF)? Saw that the firm added two new ECVC partners.

Current EC/VC mid in the area. I'd still say they're middling; even with the Perkins additions, their bench of EC/VC-dedicated corporate folks is not super deep. Would still put them behind all of the usual suspects, i.e., in no particular order, Gunderson, Fenwick, WSGR, Cooley, Goodwin, Latham, DLA, Orrick.

Avoid Murray Indick like the plague if you’re in MoFo SF ECVC.

This seems right, although also maybe a little harsh on Orrick and Goodwin.Anonymous User wrote: ↑Sat May 21, 2022 7:10 amLmao at DLA being included hereAnonymous User wrote: ↑Fri May 20, 2022 6:56 pmCurrent EC/VC mid in the area. MoFo's not remotely on the same tier as anyone in T2. And yeah, DLA should be in this convo:Anonymous User wrote: ↑Sat May 21, 2022 7:10 amLmao at DLA being included hereAnonymous User wrote: ↑Fri May 20, 2022 6:56 pmCurrent EC/VC mid in the area. Unfortunately this data is kind of meaningless. I work at a Tier 1 firm referenced above and partners candidly talk about how no one submits their deals.Anonymous User wrote: ↑Mon May 23, 2022 1:30 pmMoFo's not remotely on the same tier as anyone in T2. Yep. Pressure to cut billing time, not respectful of personal time, doesn’t go to bat for his associates, etc. Most perniciously for someone starting out, he’s a malpractice machine who can’t train anyone to do actual legal work himself (for lack of his own ability) and he often won’t staff matters with actual practitioners to train people.Anonymous User wrote: ↑Sun May 22, 2022 11:19 pmWhat has the experience been? How are the others in the ECVC group? Or the environment in the ECVC group in general?Anonymous User wrote: ↑Wed May 25, 2022 12:42 pmYep. I'm here. Don't go. Everything is true and across the board. All amateur work and also laying off.

Re: MoFo's ECVC (SF)
Thanks for the mofo insights all. Anyone have insights into Perkins or know of any ecvc groups hiring? I'm juniorish at one of the big ecvc firms possibly looking for a change (more of an ecvc focus instead of the current capm, m&a, ecvc mix I'm currently doing).

Re: MoFo's ECVC (SF)
Different poster than above - agree that Goodwin can probably be tucked in with tier 1 but actually think Orrick/Mofo would be a tier right behind Goodwin/Latham in any case (certainly Mofo, maybe not Orrick). I’d probably tuck DLA alongside Mofo in terms of ECVC practices, fwiw.attorney589753 wrote: ↑Mon May 23, 2022 12:28 amThis seems right, although also maybe a little harsh on Orrick and Goodwin.Anonymous User wrote: ↑Sat May 21, 2022 7:10 amLmao at DLA being included hereAnonymous User wrote: ↑Fri May 20, 2022 6:56 pmCurrent EC/VC mid in the area. Also to OP’s last post - not sure if many of the strong ECVC groups are really looking that hard for laterals at the moment. Maybe wait for a couple months to see how post-bonus movement shakes out but ECVC/tech has been hit decently hard by the slowdown recently (see Cooley and Gunderson layoffs). Might make sense to just continue doing good work where you are and check again in a few months. Start a relationship with a lateral recruiter so that they can keep you in the loop on openings.
