I know I'll get the EOY bonus because I negotiated it as part of my lateral package. Obviously special bonuses are in their own category and I don't expect to receive one that's based on my hours. Anon given the timing of when I lateraled.Anonymous User wrote: ↑Tue May 17, 2022 7:18 pmDo you think you’ll meet your firm’s bonus threshold for ‘22?Poll below. Thanks!

Whattup GoodwinAnonymous User wrote: ↑Wed May 18, 2022 4:26 pmWill hit it by the end of this month. 1950 target, fiscal year ends in September (so counting hours from 10/1/21 through 9/30/22).
This is the worst part about billables, especially when we had to go into the office. Do nothing for the normal day then some partner or client sends an email at 6 pm that takes 4 hours. You’re working late but that week ends up being like 18 hours. Work from home makes that much more palatable, but still so annoying.Anonymous User wrote: ↑Thu May 19, 2022 10:13 amI'm a first year and my weeks seem to fluctuate between 20 and 50+ hours. Which means I both work really hard and am not on target to make bonus. I don't think I'm being squeezed out and I get decent feedback. Just wish I got more consistent workload.
Yeah last week I was billing 12 hours a day. Yesterday I binged deadpool (1&2 back to back - on prime w ads). I'm not mad at all about the downtime but there's a certain frustration to working 12 hr days and not making bonus. We'll see how it goes by the end of the year I guess.glitched wrote: ↑Thu May 19, 2022 10:59 amThis is the worst part about billables, especially when we had to go into the office. Can you take on a pro bono research project or something, where the deadlines aren't 4 hours from when you receive them? Those more flexible, long-term projects can really help in filling downtime (at firms where those hours count toward targets).Anonymous User wrote: ↑Thu May 19, 2022 11:04 amYeah last week I was billing 12 hours a day. We don't get credit for pro bono. Or at least not enough to matter. In general my firm is really bad at giving credit for non client billings. I do have some side work but it's hardly enough to fill up 35-40 hrs/week.Wanderingdrock wrote: ↑Thu May 19, 2022 12:05 pmCan you take on a pro bono research project or something, where the deadlines aren't 4 hours from when you receive them? What does a doc review expert get paid? 100-150k?Anonymous User wrote: ↑Fri May 20, 2022 7:14 pmDoc review is the fucking best. Easy, braindead work that you can do while watching Netflix. And if you get very familiar with the review platform, you can boost your efficiency and pad your hours. It's too bad you can't make a career out of it, and as a senior, it's not something I get to do anymore (except the occasional privilege review which I will always welcome).
