Bringing dog to my V10 firm’s office
Midlevel male associate at a V10. I’d like to start bringing my dog into work with me. Anyone know of any canine friendly firms where you can bring your dog to work.

Not a troll. Legit question and agree it’s the future of an integrated workplace.Anonymous User wrote: ↑Fri May 06, 2022 8:32 pmAssuming you’re trolling but I would like this to be a thing.

A workplace integrating what?
It seems unlikely given lawyers' obsession with liability - what if the dog bites someone, what if someone has allergies, etc. I know some workplaces allow this, but have always understood it to be much smaller workplaces. But more power to you if you can swing it.

Why the fuck would any partner in his right mind let you do this? They're paying you to work--not play with fido. I also imagine that nobody would appreciate its barking. You would look unprofessional on the elevator and around clients as well. Maybe if you worked at a AM200, it would be subject for consideration...

I’m sure there are some suburban office satellites for big firms where it’s not an issue. 10-20 attorneys. But in an HQ? That seems unlikely

I’m a mid level and I love dogs and I would think someone who did this was super weird. It’s like bringing your kid or your partner to work with you everyday. Maybe they’ll sit quietly in your office while you work, but so unnecessary (unless it is an emergency and then just stay home if you can). Plus people always thing their dogs are well trained and cute, but they are often wrong. Most importantly, some people are flat out scared of dogs, even your sweet little whatever, so it’s really insensitive to impose that on someone.

Maybe Austin, TX this could be possible. in NYC you might not even get past lobby security.

The firm may not have any say on this unless the firm owns the building. A lot of buildings don’t like having pets because of the smells and stuff.

Pretty sure some of the Bay Area firms allow dogs in the office. At least I know that Gunderson Dettmer does.

Re: Bringing dog to my V10 firm’s office
Not sure why so many negative responses.
A bring-your-dog-to-work day has been seriously discussed at least at one major K&E office, so assume it has been at other major firms. The reason it can’t currently happen is that the owner of the building in question is not on board. I imagine that, as firms adjust to hybrid work styles and try to find carrots to bring folks into the office, there will be some firms with landlords that are okay with the concept, or move into new spaces as leases come up for renewal that are less traditional.
Wouldn’t expect to be the norm, but I don’t think it’s crazy to ask.

Agreed. clueless and entitled request, likely made by the same people who bring golden retrievers onto commercial flights because their soft-ass doctor wrote a note.Anonymous User wrote: ↑Sat May 07, 2022 4:53 pmIt's crazy to ask.Anonymous User wrote: ↑Sat May 07, 2022 2:16 pmNot sure why so many negative responses.

Hey, I bring my golden retriever on flights after my doctor wrote a note...for my combat PTSD after getting blown up on my third deployment during my time in Special Operations.Anonymous User wrote: ↑Sat May 07, 2022 5:08 pmAgreed. clueless and entitled request, likely made by the same people who bring golden retrievers onto commercial flights because their soft-ass doctor wrote a note.Anonymous User wrote: ↑Sat May 07, 2022 4:53 pmIt's crazy to ask.Anonymous User wrote: ↑Sat May 07, 2022 2:16 pmNot sure why so many negative responses.

Also, way to single out Golden Retrievers, arguably the V5 of pets. You probably own a hamster with that attitude.

Anyone here know Wachtell's policy on this matter? Can't say I'd seriously consider them if I can't bring my dog in.

OP here. Seems like the dog to work thing may be pushing it. Would your answer change if it was a cat?
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
