Thoughts on NYC Mid-law Corporate?

I'm a midlevel v20 corporate associate in a relatively specific practice group. Considering a lateral to a "reputable" NYC mid-law gen corp practice (think Morrison Cohen/Davis + Gilbert). Anybody here have any experience working at these places or similar firms? Looking primarily for a W-L Balance upgrade as well as ability to broaden practice for future in-house options. Not overly concerned about pay.

NYC mid-law midlevel associate here.

My firm's average associate billable hours are in the 1700-1800 range. In terms of culture, people are generally nice (with a few exceptions). Because of our size and low turnover rate, everyone knows everyone else in their group (and related/specialist groups) quite well. The flip side of low turnover is that I don't have much to go on for where people exit. Lately it has been more to biglaw, chasing the signing bonuses, but pre-COVID, departures were uncommon.

Comp is generally 75-80% of market (excluding mid-year bonuses), with the caveat that bonuses are tied to hours on a sliding scale.

Happy to answer questions that aren't too granular on the public forum. If you have questions that are more firm or practice specific, we can connect off-forum.
