Antitrust 3L Hiring

Hello everyone. I am a 2L at a T14 with a biglaw summer associate offer at a Vault 100 firm in NYC. However, I think I want to switch firms to be in an antitrust practice. Do you think 3L hiring will be expansive for antitrust this year? Besides getting good grades, any tips for targeting antitrust (I am thinking still in NYC, but open to NY).

Going to the spring meeting, so hopefully I'll meet some people there. Love to hear thoughts about timeline and applications.

3L hiring is always a crap shot and adding a very specialized area of law is only going to make it even more of one. That said, if you really want antitrust (which is my field of practice), I would normally suggest that you try to take classes in the area and intern at the FTC or DOJ so you have a good way to express your interest but it seems like it might be too late at this point for either of those. I think networking at the spring meeting will be your best bet in this case but I would also consider seeing if you can get in to antitrust at the firm you're summering at (I think nearly all of the v100 have an antitrust group) as that will be much easier than trying to hop firms.
