Top Law Schools

Of the traditionally "prestigious" litigation boutiques in major cities (DC, NY, CHI), which ones offer summer associate positions? Seems like Kellogg Hansen and Susman do, and I think Selendy & Gay does, but I'm sketchy on others (Robbins Russell, Barlit Beck, Bondurant, etc). I assume that at least some of them only hire laterals

Just going down the Vault list off ones I know off the top of my head

Full summer: Keker, Selendy, McKool, Durie Tangri, Bondurant. Also MTO and W&C which are not quite boutiques.

Split summer: Kellogg, Susman

No summer: Bartlit, MoloLamken

McKool isn't an elite boutique. I wouldn't put them on this list. Great place to do patent lit though.

More on the Plaintiffs' side: Keller Lenkner (Chicago/DC), Cooper & Kirk (DC, conservative), Constantine Cannon (NY/DC/SF), Edelson (Chicago/SF), Dovel & Luner (LA), Gupta Wessler (DC/SF/Boston), Neufeld Scheck & Brustin (NY)

They don't all necessarily have a summer program, but I personally/anecdotally know people who summered there during their 1L/2L summers.

Interesting, do they have a 100% offer rate? I assume there must be a reason why everyone I know who summered there split, esp as Kellogg is above-market

Does Cooper/Consovoy pay for their summer associates? Are all the summers their part of the Blackstone program?

Different poster. Kellogg doesn't extend return offers. Most people split (usually with Wachtell, Munger, or an elite DC appellate biglaw firm), but some spend their whole summer there. Those people usually have multiple clerkships lined up and they're not worried about eventually landing a job.

For the record, Kellogg's summer program is extremely competitive - significantly more so even than getting hired there as an associate. It's tiny and it's a lucrative gold star for any gunner willing to sacrifice the few free weeks of their 2L summer (i.e. every gunner ever). It's not uncommon for an absolute majority of Kellogg's summers to eventually clerk for SCOTUS.
