Best EC/VC or Corp M&A group in LA?

I’m looking for some insight into the LA market. Ideally, I’d like to join the EC/VC group of a tech-focused firm in LA but am open to other corporate focused roles.

Does anyone have insight into biglaw firms in LA? What’s QOL like? Any firms to avoid?

I am an M&A second year at a V10 in NYC and originally from CA. Thanks in advance.

LA is a newer EC/VC market so a lot of the usual suspects re: tech firms have footprints there (Cooley, Gunderson, Goodwin, Fenwick, WSGR, etc.), albeit not to the degree as in the Bay where most EC/VC deal flow still runs through, but those firms would be the first set of targets to go toward. If you want a bigger/more established office, then Latham has a lot of their EC/VC folks (Chris Shoff comes to mind) who sit in LA and their overall presence there is obviously huge.

I'm at one of the tech firms mentioned above and work with a ton of LA-based partners up here in the Bay so happy to chat via DM if helpful.

If we want to go in house, would it be better to be working at one of the top tech firms or would coming from a V10 have less/more sway?
