Here’s the deal: I’m a mid-level restructuring associate at a top big firm in NYC and I don’t see myself ever wanting to become a partner (mainly because I don’t want to live and breathe this shit until I’m a rotting corpse). I know there are exit opp pages for this stuff, but my question is more specific: if someone like me were to leave to go to a financial institution/bank in house (like Credit Suisse, Citi, Barclays) what would the salary and benefits be like? Please give numbers, if you can. I’m really curious what the actual comp is (bonus and all) and I’ve never seen it. I’m a 5th year associate. Thank you all.

I went in-house a few years ago to a bulge bracket ibank after ~4 years of biglaw (mix of capital markets, M&A and VC, not restructuring), comp was something like $185k base, $40k target bonus, 401K match up to $10k, good/cheap benefits. Hours weren’t bad unless there was a major project I was on that was going bananas.
