in house pro bono

if there are any, how plentiful are opportunities to do pro bono while in house? particularly at tech companies? Im afraid that there would be none, which would be a downgrade from biglaw

it's there if you want it, no one is going to stop you from doing pro bono in-house, and you'll probably get a clap on the back if you initiate it yourself. many companies have formal programs for it, and most have formal programs for volunteering generally, if not legally.

what do you mean "replace," you don't have billables. there's just stuff that you/your team needs to get done, and whether or not "I can't do this b/c of [pro bono thing]" flies will vary from boss to boss, organization to organization, workload of other members of your team, etc
