Poll re-created: NYC rent per person
I re-created the poll because it seems like some folks are indicating what they pay in total. Please choose the option for the amount you pay PER PERSON, rather than the entire household (if you split $5000 with your partner/roommate, choose $2500)

Genuine question for the people paying >$4K/month (~$50K/year) in rent: how much money are you able to save / put into retirement accounts each year? Do you consciously cut back other expenses like dining out, etc., to offset your high rent?

Okay, but what if you don't split rent evenly? E.g, your apartment is $5k, but because of income differences with your partner, you pay $3.5k and your partner pays $1.5k? Then what do we choose, 3.5k or 2.5k? I feel like I should pick what I, the one in biglaw, is paying since that is what is actually relevant here—but wanted to clarify.Anonymous User wrote: ↑Thu Nov 18, 2021 3:32 pm(if you split $5000 with your partner/roommate, choose $2500)

Doable for a midlevel iff their loans are paid off.Anonymous User wrote: ↑Thu Nov 18, 2021 4:04 pmGenuine question for the people paying >$4K/month (~$50K/year) in rent: how much money are you able to save / put into retirement accounts each year?
