The people are fucking weird and the work there is manages to be that terrible combo of a lot of downtime during the day and then a fire drill that takes up your evening/night. You’d likely lose what limited opportunities you have to have a social life and and do things outside of work, but might not make 2000 hours. They’re not that well-known for funds work relative to STB/Kirkland/Debevoise/Ropes, so it’s not like you’d be putting up with the shittiness of the group in exchange for a good name on your resume you could spin into a good in-house job either.

I’ve met people in both the Boston and nyc funds group, all of whom were normal and pretty chill. They worked a lot during the week but most (lower level associates) had weekends off. The funds group in the Boston office is strong and has a solid reputation there, but I can’t speak to NYC in that regard.
