Bored and slow right now. Anyone got any great stories that came out of your time at biglaw? Can be from any time - OCI to summer to associate to partner.
It can be funny ones, dramatic ones, ridiculous, and/or cover some serious/important topics.
Want to hear anything.

Can't say this is all too interesting, but we ran into Carole Baskin at a summer event this summer lol

What you mean? The firm hired her to speak? You had an event at the cat sanctuary?

The event was hosted at a bar, and Carol Baskin was there hanging out lol. Dressed exactly like she did in Tiger King too. I wish the latter two were true...

Was working with difficult co-counsel, a midsize firm that was afraid the client would eventually give the whole matter to us. We came in at 11th hour with an urgent deadline, and co-counsel conveniently didn’t point out a key fact that was buried until evening before filing was due. All nighter followed.
On the next round, co-counsel said twice, with client copied, that he sent comments on our brief. We never received them. We thought something up was up so we had IT check our email boxes. Turns out his computer was infected with thousands of pornographic viruses and they infected the email. IT called me to tell me, and partners didn’t believe me until they saw written confirmation.
Despite my insistence, we didn’t tell the client, but we told co-counsel over phone. Relationship got much better after.

A partner has a fake girlfriend.
He's been telling partners and associates alike stories about her for years, and they keep getting more and more outlandish (e.g., she works for the CIA, she burned my home theater down after an argument, etc.). Some partners have tried to meet her over the years and she's always conveniently not been available at the exact times they swing by.
Edit: If you're going to start a topic like this, you also owe stories. This is low-effort on your part.

That's hilarious. To be fair, if OP were to post stories, it would be anonymously posted.

I was sharing an office with one of the sweetest people ever. She was near the window and I was at the door. We got along but weren't super close friends. I guess she thought I had left for the day or something, but one night, she let out the nastiest loudest fart ever. I was so shocked I didn't know how to react. I just grabbed my bag and bolted out of there. We never spoke a word about it, but I think she knew I was in there when she saw the door close. I should look her up and see if she remembers.

I saw Scott Barshay at a grocery store in Los Angeles yesterday. I told him how cool it was to meet him in person, but I didn’t want to be a douche and bother him and ask him for photos or anything. He said, “Oh, like you’re doing now?” I was taken aback, and all I could say was “Huh?” but he kept cutting me off and going “huh? huh? huh?” and closing his hand shut in front of my face. I walked away and continued with my shopping, and I heard him chuckle as I walked off. When I came to pay for my stuff up front I saw him trying to walk out the doors with like fifteen Milky Ways in his hands without paying.
The girl at the counter was very nice about it and professional, and was like “Sir, you need to pay for those first.” At first he kept pretending to be tired and not hear her, but eventually turned back around and brought them to the counter.
When she took one of the bars and started scanning it multiple times, he stopped her and told her to scan them each individually “to prevent any electrical infetterence,” and then turned around and winked at me. I don’t even think that’s a word. After she scanned each bar and put them in a bag and started to say the price, he kept interrupting her by yawning really loudly.

When we were summers some of the associates took us out to dinner and drinks and the whole thing, and we ended up in a gay club, but what was not planned was that it was "amateur striptease night" so a parade of very fit men were dancing, removing clothes, and ending full frontal - you know, a strip show. After each one the crowd would yell and hoot and clap and the loudness was the judgement on the stripping quality. After five or six guys, a woman got up and did a striptease and one of the co-summers was drunk and heckled her for being the straight token at a gay club. We gave him shit for several years about it.

An associate got caught having an affair with two different partners at different times. She started with the one and things ended after he lateraled. New partner comes in thinking he’s special.
They start a relationship as well. There’s more to it, but the highlights are that they each billed 3k to a couple of matters in one year when they were spending this time together. Doesn’t add up.

This from a Boston-HQ biglaw firm in the past few months? Sounds familiar

I was a summer associate, and had an office next to a cute female summer associate. The hiring partner would come by and flirt with the other summer and then invite us both out to night clubs after work. I felt compelled to go because I was a summer and wanted an offer from the guy, and because I couldn't imagine how awkward it would be for the other summer if I didn't go. Every time we would stay up till 2 in the morning, and I would watch this old man flirt with my 20-something co-summer all night. One day, maybe 2 weeks into my summer, a senior associate I had just met came by and said "I heard you went out on the town with [hiring partner] last night." I reflexively responded "ya it was fucking terrible" and then clammed up because I had only been there 2 weeks and didn't know how that would be received. The senior associate laughed her ass off.
