How prestigious is KE's LA office, particularly century city (though not sure that matters too much). General rep in the city, culture, etc. Know they have the typical smattering of band 1 groups but any particularly elite or to stay away from?

No idea, but my worst interactions with K&E folks have been out of the LA office.

Sounds like KE hahaha... Was hoping it might be a little more chill out in LA. Anyone want to go to bat for them? Or at least make the case it's not terrible to be a part of their notorious machine

Anyone got a take on KE LA perceived prestige?

Hate to break it to you, but in LA biglaw is not viewed as “prestigious.” If you want to be “prestigious,” go work in the entertainment industry.

Also hoping to get more insight on Kirkland LA/CC. What is the culture like? Does it depend on the group?

Yes, an absolutely joy of a group to work with. And by joy I assume you, like me, get off on a partner ignoring you for days only to hit you up at 11PM that he/she will be turning the thing you sent him/her 3 days ago shortly and can you please work through comments and send over to opposing counsel asap, and then you get the thing at 1AM and it is a hand markup that is barely legible and doesn't make sense, and you are done with it by 3:30AM.

I mean, as biglaw goes, that's really not even that bad.

As a K&E associate who worked in multiple offices and with PE/M&A partners from even more offices (including NY, CH, BN and LA/CC), I found the LA corporate partners to be pretty meh. Damon Fisher is great but not very interested in investing in associate development. I've heard horror stories about Woronoff but never worked with him. Luke Guerra and Hamed Meshki are both nice guys but similarly not very approachable or willing to chum it up with associates. For me personally, the LA office has among the worst group of partners and least friendly environment. People go about their shit largely without socializing or creating any sort of inviting culture.
