How do these two offices compare in transactional practice, in terms of size and main practice fields?
Are there other non-practice aspects (firm/office culture, benefits, facilities) in which one office is better than the other?

I think of Ropes as being stronger in Finance and M&A, particularly PE M&A. I don't know much about securities really, but I suspect Ropes is better there too.
ETA: Really people should just be looking at Chambers for these questions.

Ropes definitely has a better culture. It's very strong at PE and asset management.
