Lateraling without recruiter

Post by Anonymous User » Thu Sep 16, 2021 3:50 pm

Just curious about protocol on this. I'm trying to lateral from my current firm.

I applied directly to a relevant opening and got an interview at Firm A and reached out to an old colleague at Firm B (which didn't have a listed opening) and also got an interview.

Firm C recently opened an office in my city and I am interested in reaching out to them as well, but they don't have an opening listed. I've worked across the table a handful of times from one of the partners who joined Firm C and is in the same practice group as me. Is it okay to reach out to that partner? Or am I better going through the recruiting contact? I don't have a former classmate or colleague currently at Firm C.

I would absolutely reach out to that partner.

You're better off going through the partner.
