Chances of offer if you have a screener as 3L?
I know that it's harder to get a screener as a 3L than as a 2L, but is there any difference between your chances at a job once you've secured a screener?
In other words, should a 3L expect a lower chance of getting a callback after a screener and a lower chance of an offer after a callback compared to a 2L at each stage? I'm trying to manage my expectations so I won't be devastated if things don't work out.

it's pre-selected but 3L openings are also pretty limited. So really can't tell.

Last year as a 3L I think I had 3 Big Law screeners. Got one offer.
I would argue that your chances of screener --> offer are much higher during 3L hiring. 2Ls get screeners based on OCI matching/rankings, whereas if you get a screener as a 3L they are at least a little bit interested in bringing you on. This is especially true for specialty groups if you have background in that specialty.

I think it's pretty high. As a 3L, I had 5 screeners -> offers and only 2 rejections. If they give you a screener, it's because they have a hiring need, and they've already seen your resume/transcript/materials. Don't be discouraged and good luck!!

For me it was 12.5% chance! 8 screeners, 1 offer. Plus a straight to cb (ding) and a declined screener once I accepted.
ETA - was still much better odds than 2L for me, because anything is more than 0%. You only need one.

I had 3 3L screeners with 2 callbacks and 2 offers. Stark contrast from my 2L OCI with ~25 screeners, 3 callbacks, 0 offers.

What’s the timeline from CB to offer? The partner in charge told me how great of a fit I am and that I would hear shortly. It’s been a week now and starting to get worried…

There’s really no way to generalize as 3L hiring is totally firm and need specific. We do very little 3L hiring and when we do have an opening, we might screen 5-6 candidates (or even more) for one spot. Another firm may have a hole in their pipeline and need to hire more 3Ls and may be less selective. You can only do your best and hope it works out. Good luck!

When I was doing 3L recruiting, I think I converted 5 screeners to 2 callbacks, both callbacks to offers, and cancelled 4 more screeners. Not much rhyme or reason to it honestly, though I do think the conversion rate might be higher right now with how desperate we are

All of my offers so far this year have been within 2 business days. That being said, I've heard of it taking longer in previous years...Anonymous User wrote: ↑Mon Sep 27, 2021 10:26 pmWhat’s the timeline from CB to offer? Chicago and Bay Area! I did tell the recruiter about other pending offers, so that may be why they were moving quickly.Anonymous User wrote: ↑Tue Sep 28, 2021 1:08 pmWhat market was it? Data point: 2 screeners —> 2 CBS —> 1 offer. Very happy with the result. Good luck everyone.

Another data point: 4 screeners - 1 ding, 2 ghost, 1 offer. Accepted the offer. V10 specialty group.
