3L: Changing firms from summer associate to full-time

I summered at a firm in SF and accepted a return offer but am eager to move to LA. Is it fine for me to just e-mail recruiting teams at other firms here and ask if they have any openings? Or is there a risk that comes to back to bite me? Any other comments about how easy/ difficult it is are appreciated. Thanks!
