is it really the case that there is a serious difference in lifestyle and hours between DC and NY? can anyone speak to this specifically?
DC is a bit less appealing to me for various reasons, but if I could have more of a life in DC as opposed to chained to my desk in NY, it might be worth it.

Yes, the difference is real and largely conforms to stereotypes. In general, for example, evening work is more often done from home in DC than NY. It may be worth mentioning what the reasons for preferring NY are so that you can get more tailored advice.

DC is definitely a bit better especially as far as late nights but a lot of this will obviously depend on the firms. Lifestyle at the highest level is a bit different as well but again this is going to vary by firm.

I know DC corporate associates who are slammed just as much or if not more as the NY ones.
