Pretty sure they're criticizing the original (bad) question.Anonymous User wrote: ↑Mon Aug 23, 2021 11:42 pm????
lol it’s absolutely top 10 for corporate in new york it’s just massiveAnonymous User wrote: ↑Tue Aug 24, 2021 11:54 amClearly Chicago. I frequently feel like I am across from the "B" team when its Kirkland New York. Kirkland is by far the best firm in Chicago, but is probably not even top 10 for corporate in New York.
didn’t think the rest of the comment, which included more than just that, was necessary. the truth is, it makes 2Ls at NYU upset to know that some kid from Syracuse works at a firm that does just as well in corporate as their firm doesAnonymous User wrote: ↑Tue Aug 24, 2021 1:15 pmWhy did you delete the part of your post about the NY office hiring gunners from lower ranked schools to fill chairs?
is this a good or bad thing i’m confusedAnonymous User wrote: ↑Tue Aug 24, 2021 1:31 pmSee: V20 firms who hire NYU bottom 1/3 yet don’t look at Syracuse law review
Fair enough. My views on this are probably a bit dated. I still think of Weil as better than them (which probably isn't true).Anonymous User wrote: ↑Tue Aug 24, 2021 12:52 pmlol it’s absolutely top 10 for corporate in new york it’s just massiveAnonymous User wrote: ↑Tue Aug 24, 2021 11:54 amClearly Chicago. other anon here - in any case, Weil is probably the better place to work in NYAnonymous User wrote: ↑Tue Aug 24, 2021 1:58 pmFair enough. My views on this are probably a bit dated. FWIW, my comment also included a point about how Kirkland NY is around 850 attorneys right now and they’re still trying to get more bodies because they have that much work (for better and worse)
edit: sorry for so many edits here, but I want to make it clear I’m not saying KE NY is like top 3 or something, I’m just saying it’s definitely in the top 10, probably somewhere in the 8-10 range.

Kirkland Chicago is decidedly not as selective as Cravath. Maybe more selective than Kirkland NY, but that's a function of Chicago being a harder market to get into.Anonymous User wrote: ↑Tue Aug 24, 2021 6:56 pmOn selectivity, which is really what law students care about for stupid reasons, Kirkland Chicago is around Cravath, etc. Kirkland NY is not.

Yeah K&E Chi is pretty grade selective, IIRC maybe a bit higher than Cravath at my school, though neither are all that hard if you’re at a T6 or so compared to eg WLRK or the top DC firms. I mean it’s not that surprising that the #1 firm in a somewhat hard market is as selective as the #2ish firm in the easiest biglaw market.Anonymous User wrote: ↑Fri Aug 27, 2021 7:43 pmI disagree.Anonymous User wrote: ↑Fri Aug 27, 2021 7:12 pmKirkland Chicago is decidedly not as selective as Cravath.
