Did a callback interview with a biglaw firm last week. On Friday, they emailed me asking for my writing sample. What does this mean? The callback has already happened.

It may be standard for all callback candidates. It may not. Probably no way to tell, so just send the writing sample and let the situation unfold.

Did you submit a writing sample originally? If not, and if it’s not standard procedure, I’d guess they’re leaning toward an offer but want to make sure you can write before extending it. Obviously, if you were out of the running, they probably wouldn’t ask for additional information.

It means they want a writing sample. They’re not going to ask you for a writing sample if they’ve already decided to reject you. Beyond that, no one can tell you what it means.

This is meaningless in all honesty. They asked me for a writing sample AFTER I'd already got an offer.
