Milbank v Debevoise v White & Case

Fortunate enough to be deciding between some great options, but definitely feeling torn. They're all NY offices, and I'm pretty set on transactional, leaning M&A but not sure yet. My long-term goal is to have a career where I'm able to live and work abroad and use my language abilities, whether as a partner (long shot) or more likely going in-house or something. I know W&C is known for their international stuff, but Debevoise seems to be a bit higher in prestige and potential exits. Would love to hear thoughts and advice! Thank you.

I just don’t understand the Debevoise prestige thing and am 90% sure it’s just a flame…
It sounds like you’re not really interested in Milbank. Is that in the running or just a place you got an offer at?

Eh not really. It’s definitely above these two. I would say deb is a small step below cleary

If you're leaning transactional/general corporate, then Debevoise is the clear winner here. Especially for M&A.

OP here.
I honestly just put Milbank because it was the next-most-prestigious place I got an offer at, but tbh its general corporate practices seem a bit weak to me (even though its project finance/transportation and space groups are really strong).
