After you’ve accepted an offer, when will you hear from the firm again?

Subject line. Will the firm get back in touch after it’s filled out its class? What do subsequent communications typically look like?

You should first receive confirmation of your acceptance from the hiring partner or recruiting team. You might also receive an offer gift, if you haven’t already.

Even though you’ve accepted on the early side, you’ll probably still be invited to the offeree meet-and-greet events. I’ve heard of several large-class NY firms doing those (virtual & in person) over the coming weeks.

Many firms send a roster of sorts to the summer class as a whole, once it has been finalized — listing who is in the class from which law schools. That typically is sent a few months after OCI. Last year (c/o 2022), those went out in March-April after OCIs in January. In more typical years, I believe those rosters start to go out in the late November-January range.

Finally, there’s the logistics of setting up direct deposit, filling out W-2s, figuring out which practice areas to try, etc. All that is sorted out in the spring, much closer to the summer.

tldr: do not expect open channels of communication
