Help Me Decide: Non-NYC M&A Edition

T6 transactional person truly overwhelmed by options. I'm a first gen student struggling to discern true differences among firms and opportunities afterwards. Interested in M&A but very attracted to Latham's Unassigned program and opportunities to try work from a variety of top-ranked corporate practices. Ended up with lots of options in the Bay (and some elsewhere) and would love others' thoughts on which might offer the best long-term outcomes. TIA!

you should decide where you want to live first

Im at Latham and honestly wish I was in the SF office. Culture there is fantastic and very little pressure to come in to the office even before covid.

Agreed that location is probably the highest priority factor. To that end, I personally would stick state-side. I think if you go to Cal, that you should stick with Latham or K&E versus DPW.

PubCo M&A probably goes to MoFo SF (they do a lot of headline tech IPOs and acquisitions), PE M&A will go to KE SF. But you can't go wrong with Latham or STB either; do you have a feeling of which office you liked the most?
Most importantly, you really need to decide where you want to live, because PA and SF are not the same. Can the London offer be changed to something stateside? Otherwise I'd put that one aside and decide based on where you want to live. You said non-NYC M&A so KE NY doesn't make sense either.

Wow your office must be especially bad if Latham's SF office is considered to have a good culture... and how on earth is STB PA in second place?? Unfortunate that people who have no idea about these offices are voting.
