I'm interested in patent litigation and the goal is to go to a public interest organization for the women's rights a few years down the line. Which would you choose?

How do you envision transferring from patent litigation to some kind of public interest organization? Just curious.

Presumably by doing lots of pro bono, which should be much easier at Wilmer compared to the other two (going off of NALP numbers and general reputation). It also likely has the most clout with public interest groups of the three, to the extent that's even a thing.

I otherwise agree with the implication that landing this super-specific public interest outcome is going to primarily depend on a lot of things besides choice of firm.

Good to know, thanks for the info.

To be clear, I am not the OP, but I can't imagine what else they're referring to given they these firms (and basically any biglaw) are otherwise indistinguishable re: public interest exits.

WilmerHale associate in IP and this literally happens all the time. A sizeable number of WH IPL alumni end up leaving for non-IP roles in government, public interest, etc. In the end of the day IP lit is litigation first and foremost, so if you get good trial work at a top litigation shop like WH and signal other interests with pro bono experience there's no issue convincing others that you're qualified.
