Best practice areas for English lawyer looking to move to US?

I am a future trainee solicitor at a UK law firm. My goal is to qualify in the US after completing my training contract in the UK. I am currently thinking about what seats to choose during my training contract, with a view to qualifying into an area which will make it easier for me to lateral to a firm in the US.
What practice areas are more likely to hire a UK-educated lawyer? My understanding is that things like M&A, finance, private equity, and international arbitration will tend to be more transferable. On the other hand, IPOs, litigation, and competition law may be less transferable because there are larger differences between jurisdictions. Is this understanding correct?
