Why would anyone commit before OCI?

I guess if you get your #1 pick, you'd take it. But seems shortsighted.

Perhaps I'm misunderstanding because I did pre-OCI about 3 years ago but I feel like most people didn't take pre-OCI offers before OCI because usually similar or better firms would also be available at OCI and people wanted to be able to choose among options by doing second looks, etc. Are there earlier deadlines this year?

my understand was that pre-OCI is largely v20 NYC firms and people often accept offers early to alleviate the pressure of OCI/avoid it completely.

Idk, I got offers at firms that far surpass those that attend my schools OCI

Same, I got three V20 offers and three other V20 screeners and only one of those firms attends my school’s OCI.

Gotcha, fair enough. When I did OCI I did it in DC and the most desirable firms didn't do a lot/any pre-OCI recruiting so I assumed the same was true elsewhere.
