When you say people at K&E, are you talking about partners?? I am an incoming associate and I haven’t heard anything about 215k.

I 'member when trolling used to mean something.

Besides, the squeeze isn't in terrible first years, it is in mid-levels and seniors. There is literally no reason to further raise first level rates.

OP here, an incoming K&E associate literally got an email about the subject.

If you're an incoming associate and you didn't get the email about the salary raise, check again!

Finally, y'all can doubt me but when it's finally announced, y'all gonna regret saying this.

can confirm that class of 2021 will get 215K starting 2022 at KE Bay offices. it's stated in a letter, so unless it's a typo it's a real thing. not sure what the impact is on other class years or why they don't just put it out there and claim a new KE scale.

Being generous, maybe someone misread their offer letter or a JD/MBA is getting a class year bump they didn’t know about, but offer letters haven’t gone out yet and there has not been an email. So yeah, is troll.

A dumb JD/MBA probably didn’t realize he/she was getting a bonus.

We don't have the time or inclination to police petty stuff like this (or ban everyone who insults the volunteer mods for not getting involved in petty stuff like this).

Is this K&E? Picture? Send to ATL?

I feel like if this were real, it would already be on ATL. Kirkland has like 3000000 first years starting. One of them would’ve sent to ATL.

What letter? When in the history of biglaw salary raises has a raise ever been announced 6 months in advance by a “letter”?

If it was announced by letter, at least one person who received it would have had the good sense to leak to ATL rather than anonymously posting on a troll-ridden forum.

The market could tank between now and January, and there would be no more momentum for salary raises - and that’s why no firm would ever put that in a letter 6 months in advance. Makes no sense.

Yeah this part doesn't make sense to me, the benefit of being a comp leader is the publicity..

This is just the second year salary. I am at KE and we are not raising the scale for first years to 215. It is scary that we have juniors who can't figure this out though.
