Depression and being in office

I am a summer associate and have been going into the office over the past few weeks. Like others, I found covid very difficult because of the isolation/remote classes and became extremely depressed, especially this past spring. As a result, I had a very difficult time studying for classes last semester and was hoping that coming into the office would help lessen the loneliness and make me more productive. I worked before law school in a cubicle where there was constant interaction with my coworkers which motivated me to do better work. However, this summer I have been placed in an office by myself and again am finding it difficult to do any work. While I have been completing the assignments I've been given and going to the social events when possible, I procrastinate a lot and know I'm not making the most out of my summer. I didn't anticipate feeling so isolated during the work day. Has anyone experienced this and if so, have any tips?

sure. try to have lunch with associates and other summers. during down time, if you see someone has their office door open, ask if someone has time to chat for 5-10 minutes. chat with people in the coffee room

As more people come in, I expect it to be less difficult. Chat up the staff, front desk reception, secretary, runners, etc.

Force yourself to eat lunch with people and not just at desk, work with office door open, etc.

Something that helped me too was meeting up with other friends who work downtown.
