Where did you see this? I'm not seeing anything public, and afaik, they're still at 150k. That's a huge leap to 180k.Anonymous User wrote: ↑Wed Jul 07, 2021 2:46 pmI noticed Faegre raised salaries to 180k. Any other firms following?

I don’t the Minneapolis office got the mid-level bump. It was mostly for SLC, iircAnonymous User wrote: ↑Thu Jul 08, 2021 3:01 amIt's safe to assume that Dorsey & Whitney will bump as they are one of Faegre's competitors in that market. Not sure if they can afford the $30,000 jump as that's pretty significant and they just did some special midlevel and senior targeted bumps I think.

Do any Minnesotans on here know what Fredrikson or Dorsey's scales look like down in Des Moines?Anonymous User wrote: ↑Thu Jul 08, 2021 12:05 pmWho do we think will match, if any?Anonymous User wrote: ↑Thu Jul 08, 2021 11:47 amGood call!Anonymous User wrote: ↑Thu Jul 08, 2021 3:01 amIt's safe to assume that Dorsey & Whitney will bump as they are one of Faegre's competitors in that market. I could see some or all of Stinson, Robins Kaplan, & Winthrop.
I seriously doubt Taft (formerly Briggs & Morgan), Lathrop GPM (formerly Gray Plant Mooty), or Fredrikson will keep up, but maybe they'll raise starting salary a tad.
Think it's a good message or bad one? I feel like this foreshadowing for associates for a no match that will cite different hours programs and bonus programs as the reasoning.Anonymous User wrote: ↑Thu Jul 08, 2021 11:47 amGood call!Anonymous User wrote: ↑Thu Jul 08, 2021 3:01 amIt's safe to assume that Dorsey & Whitney will bump as they are one of Faegre's competitors in that market. I am taking this as a good thing as the letter states they expect to raise salaries in view of the market. It also seems like they want to be transparent about the state of the firm.Anonymous User wrote: ↑Thu Jul 08, 2021 4:56 pmThink it's a good message or bad one? Not inappropriate, but it should come up naturally as part of a conversation about the firm, not be like an email with just that question in it, which would be weirdAnonymous User wrote: ↑Mon Jul 19, 2021 7:18 pmI have a screener with Dorsey and Whitney coming up. Inappropriate to ask associate (acquaintance) if they think their firm is going to raise?
Speaking only with secondhand knowledge, there isn’t much of a scale. It starts at the first year salary and compresses immediately to varying degrees. And bonuses are pretty modestAnonymous User wrote: ↑Tue Jul 20, 2021 12:35 amCan someone post the new MN pay scale? I see that the first year salaries are moving to $180k but anyone have the rest of the scale?

gotcha. I was hoping there was a published scale somewhere but figures it's compressed
FWIW Dorsey released a memo suggesting that they will raise salaries to remain competitive in the market.Anonymous User wrote: ↑Mon Jul 19, 2021 7:18 pmI have a screener with Dorsey and Whitney coming up. Inappropriate to ask associate (acquaintance) if they think their firm is going to raise?
As OCI season kicks off, it seems like we should probably expect news from the rest of the big MN firms soon, or they will get left in the dust.Anonymous User wrote: ↑Tue Jul 20, 2021 9:58 amBallard Spahr to 170k

I think these firms are more worried about losing good attorneys in the lateral market than they are with recruiting. I am expecting announcements soon.Anonymous User wrote: ↑Tue Jul 20, 2021 10:16 amAs OCI season kicks off, it seems like we should probably expect news from the rest of the big MN firms soon, or they will get left in the dust.Anonymous User wrote: ↑Tue Jul 20, 2021 9:58 amBallard Spahr to 170k

Ballard Spahr (formerly Lindquist and Vennum) is not normally a top destination for OCI, but it's going to get way more interest than comparable (or, in my view, better) firms like Fredrikson or Stinson if they're one of the few paying $180,000.
