Are summer institutes disadvantageous?

Posting anon so I can be specific about my school.

I’m an incoming 1L at Duke and am looking at my options for 1L summer. I had to cancel a trip to Europe because of COVID and would love to spend some time over there, so I was happy to see that Duke has a summer institute at Leiden University in the Netherlands designed for rising 2Ls. It’s right in the middle of summer, though, and I feel like taking four weeks of summer classes would be a poor substitute for a summer job.

Do most students in programs like this work just half the summer or something like that? If so, is that a disadvantage at OCI?

My goals are generic biglaw.
Thanks

Is it going to hurt you? No.

Is there any reason to do this instead of just working for 9-10 weeks and then taking a couple of weeks' vacation? Also no.
