I had a good panel interview about 4 weeks ago including the head of a city attorney department. They told me hiring won't be done until July, after the fiscal year.
I would think interviews would be done before then. I followed up 2 weeks ago and the office told me additional interviews will be conducted starting end of May.
I can email the department head directly. Should I wait or ask for status? I just want to know the timeline.
How to follow up after interviewing with city goverment after 4 weeks? Forum

I mean, they said hiring won’t be done till July, which sounds like a timeline. Even if interviews are done before then, that doesn’t mean they can necessarily update you on your status at that point.
