Re: Pre-OCI 2021
Does anybody have a CB with DPW or PW? I have a CB set up with a V15 and a V5. I am interested in those two as well, but have heard radio silence from recruiting.

Re: Pre-OCI 2021
I'm not nearly that impressive (probably lower % grade, definitely lower rank school) and I've also gotten a lot of NY hits, 1 V10 and 2 V20 CBs. Nothing on either secondary market I've targeted.Anonymous User wrote: ↑Wed Jun 16, 2021 9:33 pmMovement is insanely fast. Got two CBs in less than 24hrs, V10 and V15, NYC.
GPA slightly north of a 3.7 at a T6.

What's the deal with this video screener? Is it behavioral or is it "why W&C" type of stuff?

For anyone with a Latham NY CB, did you do the behavioral assessment? And if so,( approx) how long after did you get a cb?

Do pre-OCI callbacks materialize into offers at around the same rate as those given for OCI/normal track recruiting? Or are they more selective/higher ROR

Re: Pre-OCI 2021
Yes, but they're usually slower/later than NY. Also seems to be a bit more random in terms of who gets interviewed/offered in relation to like grades and stuff
Depends a lot on the firm. I had friends at firms that went through a typical OCI pace during pre-OCI and also had a couple that had early CBs and didn't get offers until regular OCI had started at the same firmAnonymous User wrote: ↑Thu Jun 17, 2021 7:16 pmDo pre-OCI callbacks materialize into offers at around the same rate as those given for OCI/normal track recruiting? Re: Pre-OCI 2021
So regardless of the timeframes - is a person who has a callback during pre-OCI more likely to receive an offer than they would be through normal OCI/direct apply. Like how often do pre-OCI callbacks = an offer?Anonymous User wrote: ↑Thu Jun 17, 2021 8:12 pmYes, but they're usually slower/later than NY. Re: Pre-OCI 2021
Offer-rates, including pre-OCI, depend on the firm. Some places have a reputation for calling back a lot of people that leads to a low offer-rate after the callback whereas others (SullCrom is one, I think?) tend to weed out most of the rejects before the callback.
But that’s all pre-COVID, where resources were spent on flying people all over the country. The point is that theses offer-rates vary by firm and that any past data on this procedure is likely useless (firms can interview you online easily). Ultimately, I’d think pre-OCI interviews could be more likely (even if slightly) to lead to an offer based purely on the fact that you were pulled out of a very large mass-mail pile. There’s something interesting about you - independently from your school - that got their interest.

Re: Pre-OCI 2021
I’m top 1/3 at a T1 that roughly sends a third to BL/Mid, it worth trying Pre-OCI or is it usually reserved for more competitive candidates?

Looking for advice on this. 3.8 from t6 and not certain on lit/corp. Mostly looking at DC and NY. Some firms, like WLRK S&C and Deb say "apply if we arent coming to OCI. Others, like GDC and Cov, dont have any information on their websites. What do I make of that? Also - any other tips appreciated.

APPLY EVERYWHERE. This isn't a hard concept. If they aren't taking your app, they'll ignore it or tell you to apply at OCI.Anonymous User wrote: ↑Fri Jun 18, 2021 4:33 pmLooking for advice on this. 3.8 from t6 and not certain on lit/corp. This isn’t necessarily true. They might think less of a candidate for not following instructions, no? Cmon man!

No they won’t. They get plenty of applications and are run by busy people. They aren’t penalizing anyone for showing interest too early.Anonymous User wrote: ↑Sat Jun 19, 2021 7:42 amThis isn’t necessarily true. They might think less of a candidate for not following instructions, no? Cmon man!
If you are totally neurotic about this and haven’t read the past 4 pages of people pointing out that almost every V20 firm is interviewing early, just set up a coffee chat with an associate and they’ll probably ask for your materials to forward anyway.

Thank you. But to be clear, I have read the past 4 pages and many of the firms listed havent been discussed in detail. Still looking for information on those listed above

Re: Pre-OCI 2021
what kind of information do you need? if it’s not specifically mentioned on their website, apply. if it is, apply unless it explicitly says not to. very, very simple concept.Anonymous User wrote: ↑Sat Jun 19, 2021 1:52 pmThank you. debevoise will be at my schools oci and they still accepted apps and are interviewing. i’m sure that is the case for the others you mentioned. just apply.
eta: you can look at past years’ pre-oci threads if you’re that worried about it. the ‘19 one is probably the best thread

Re: Pre-OCI 2021
Yes, it's worth trying Pre-OCI. Most of my friends at my T1 with similar BL placement got their offers through pre-OCI. They generally didn't get many interviews just from mass mailing (though some with median grades got a couple of interviews), but it's easy to network and get that to transition into a pre-OCI interview. Reach out to alums from your school at firms, set up an informational interview and see if they can pass on your resume.
But even if you don't network (which you definitely should do), there is no harm in sending pre-OCI applications.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
