Incoming associate, curious to hear about people's experiences in the sovereigns practice, specifically sovereign funds and sovereign debt. Is the work just like capital markets or restructuring but more cumbersome and political? What's a day in the life like? What are the exit options? Does it suck to be a woman working for a country like Saudi Arabia?

Any time you're working across time zones it sucks, even more so when your weekends don't line up with the client's. PIF's GC is a woman, so I don't think that has any bearing on what it's like to work for the Saudis. I don't think the work is "political" per se with the exception of you'll have more exposure to things like CFIUS that you likely wouldn't otherwise, but there's trade counsel to actually deal with that.
