For those who went In-House Very Early ( Or even straight out of LS)

Hello,

I have seen a few people on here who:

1. Went In-House Right after LS

2. Went In-House only a few years after LS (i.e I have seen a few cases of 1 year, 2 year, 3 year)

My questions are the following:

1. For those who went In-House right out of LS, how did you manage to pull it off?

2 For those who went In-House right a few years after LS(shorter than the standard 4-6), how did you manage to pull it off?

3. For those who went In-House Early, how did you find the compensation and WL balance to be?

4. How exposed are you to the business operations? Are there opportunities to try non-legal tasks?

Thanks

I'm a 3L with an in-house gig lined up. I pulled it off by striking out at OCI and applying to literally everything I could find. Made sure to get on Barristers' Council, a secondary journal, and get a fall externship to pad the the resume, all while improving my grades.

I got really really lucky. The job I got I found on some random sketchy website and somehow I got it. I applied to everything I could find and this one happened to stick. Doubly lucky that the summer associate program at my company almost always offers full-time roles (usually max 1 no offer out of 2 or 3 total 2Ls). Tripley lucky that it pays well. Not sure how else one can land an in house gig as a law student
