Admission to Texas Bar when moving from NY

Hi Everyone,
I'm a NY qualified lawyer looking to move to Texas. Can someone guide me on whether I'd have to pass the bar before moving? Based on a few articles I read, I think I can waive into the bar if I have practiced for 2 years (I'm a 4th year now). I don't want to make the request before I understand how it would work, so any insight is much appreciated. My firm has an office and has transferred an associate in the past but I don't want to reach out since I don't know the associate very well.
Also, concerned cause some states don't allow any practice of law until you are admitted.
Thanks All!
