Capital Markets practice at a secondary market

My understanding is that a lot of the action is happening at NY for numerous reasons. Thing is, I will start my practice at a secondary market that isn't particularly a hot spot for public companies. Is it plausible to build skill sets that can lateral me to either NY, London, Hong Kong with this type of job?

It feels like when things get hot they get hot. My firm’s NY and LA offices cap markets groups would probably interview anyone with experience drafting a prosupp, even if they just had 3 years doing so from Idaho, at this point.

Cap markets in NYC, LA, SF and San Diego are all on fire. Can't speak to other markets.

Non-NYC markets that specialize in certain industries will also specialize in raising capital in the capital markets for companies in those industries. Tech in NoCal, oil and gas in Texas, life sciences in Boston, etc. It’ll be a bit more boom/bust than a general capital markets practice in NYC since deals will be based off both market conditions overall and what’s going on in the specific industry, but you can get a lot of capital markets experience at certain firms in these markets when the deal work is flowing.

Can confirm that the life sciences deal work is flowing in Boston.
