I am confused because Vault says only 61 SAs out of 70 were offered full-time positions last summer for a firm I am looking at, but NALP says they were all offered at every office. The number of SAs across both sources don’t even match up. Am I reading this wrong?

I'd rely on NALP since it's likely being updated every year with the understanding that the numbers serve as a resource for students/laterals. Vault is primarily used for rankings so the numbers might be wrong without anyone catching it. If it's a well known large law firm (which I'm assuming with 70 SAs), the assumption would be that they offered everyone. No-offering even 1-3 people can cause quite the stir; can't imagine 9 no-offers being swept under the rug.

I think the reason for the discrepancy is because there are two categories on Vault: 1) number of total SA's (which would include 1L's); and 2) number of 2L offers. The latter category is obviously going to be a smaller number of people, but may still be indicative of a 100% offer rate (or close to it). For example, I'm a 3L and at the firm I was an SA at, there was a difference of around 10 SA's between categories 1 and 2 on Vault, but I know for a fact my firm had a 100% offer rate this past summer. This is mathematically explained by the fact that there were 10 1L SA's spread throughout the firm's U.S. offices, which is why at first glance it appeared the offer rate was less than 100%.

Sometimes NALP data isn't always correct either (my firms numbers for last summer aren't correct I think 2019 data just got repeated). I think this is probably an error on Vault though. It shows 61 2Ls on NALP for Hogan and 62 offers made on Vault. Don't know where they're getting the 101 number from though that doesn't even seem to match up with NALP. Like the other poster pointed out, 1Ls are also included in summer associates
